Why is Voter Breakdown in Wake County Significant?
Do you know the voter breakdown in Wake County? How many total voters are here? And do you know what is their breakdown? The numbers will most likely surprise you. Anyone, who wants to be active in politics must first understand his/her constituency. This applies to politicians, candidates and us, the people. In a democracy understanding the voter make up is vital in setting political strategies and agendas. This article deals with the voter make up from the perspective of party affiliation.
Basic Numbers by Party Affiliation
To put things into perspective you must first understand the totals. As of Aug 14th, 2021 North Carolina has a total of 7,114,103 voters. Wake County makes up roughly 10% of this total with 778,682 voters. With the elections in Wake County resulting roughly 65%/35% in favor of the Democrats, you may think the voter breakdown in Wake County is pretty much defined by these numbers. Not even close! Despite the two main parties making you believe citizens are divided along party lines, this is not so. Going in order from the smallest, we have 6,277 Libertarians, 179,704 Republicans, 284,782 Democrats and then we have the most populous voter group. Voters in this group are designated as Unaffiliated, because they either do not want to pick a party or declared an affiliation to a very small party.
Either way Wake County harbors 307,919 voters, who do not wish to be part of the political party game. Almost half the voters are following Pres. Washington’s lead we already mentioned on our site. Or is it that our first President knew people better than today’s politicians?
People vs Parties
It is quite obvious that people in Wake County are not happy with the party game. However, the parties seem to want to ignore this and still push their own agendas over the people. The problem with the Unaffiliated majority of voters is that their voices are not heard over the loud party campaigning and fundraisers. This is why we are creating a platform to communicate with politicians and candidates for office on a nonpartisan basis. A place that will give a voice to all people, not just one segment of the voter base. If our government is to work for us the people, then it must be selected by us the people. The party cannot make the decisions for us.
Join us in bringing nonpartisanship back into politics. Help us build a platform that lets your voice be heard. Bringing politics back to the people will help you and your interests be represented at all levels of government. The place to start is always home, in your local community.
